Seven Killed, Eight Injured As Boko Haram Attacks Adamawa

Residents of Madagali local government area of
Adamawa state have reported that Boko Haram
insurgents killed six residents during a midnight
attack, while eight others escaped with injuries
on Monday, January 11.

Members of the dreaded Islamist sect during a raid.

A fleeing resident, Musa Tela, told newsmen via telephone
that the insurgents came to the area at about 12:30am on
Sunday and launched attack on residents.

Tela added that the sect members killed 6 people and
burnt two houses of prominent personalities in the area
while 8 other residents sustained varying degree of injuries
in their bid to escape the onslaught.

The death figure increased, as a former administrator of
Madagali local council, Maina Ularamu said the assailants
sneaked into the town and beheaded seven people.

According to Daily Post, the attackers walked to the town
on Sunday night through Chakawa village and beheaded
seven civilians.

The ex-administrator of the local council said the insurgents
also burnt two houses before leaving.
“I personally know three of the victims. We will
continue to appeal for deployment of soldiers to
strategic villages like Chakawa, Lemu and Dabu
to block them.

“We learnt they are currently hiding in the bush
around Dabu village,” Ularamu stated.
Another resident of the area who simply identify himself as
Mallam Ahmadu, said the early morning attack has left them
demoralized as the insurgents had a field day without a
challenge from security forces.

A member representing Madagali and Michika constituency
at the House of Representatives, Hon Adamu Kamale,
confirmed the incident.

He said: “The fact that our area share borders with
Sambisa forest and Cameroon republic should
have been enough reason why government must
deploy security personnel to protect us. If the
government does not take proactive measures to
stem the ugly insurrection, they will kill all of us.

“The number of soldiers deployed is grossly
inadequate, we need more security personnel as
our villages share borders with Sambisa forest,”
the lawmaker said.

Adamawa state police spokesperson, Othman Abubakar also
confirmed the development, he said seven men were killed
by the insurgents during the attack, while two women got
injured and were receiving medical attention.

The police image-maker also said three of the attackers
had been arrested, while the search for others remains
ongoing.
